Unfortunately Crabgirl was late in paying Richard Branson for his crappy internets so I am without home-internets atm.
Interesting question, if they cut you off for not paying on time do they deduct the days when you didn't have internet from your next bill?
Whilst I'm on the subject, Virgin Media? Virgin bag-of-shite more like. My average speed in the evening is 1 meg. On a 20 meg connection. It's pissing me the fuck off. I'm going to punch Mr Branson in his stupid fat face next time I see him.
Cheers for the link JP.

Haven't you read the thing about them limiting you if you download more than 3gb in a day. It's supposed to go down to about 5 meg tho' not 1 and that's between 7 and 12.
Happens to me every day, tho' to be fair describing me as a heavy user is difficult to take issue with. What with me downloading and/or uploading 24/7, using another PC for surfing and their often being another 3 PCs doing both.

I know about the download limiting thing once you hit a certain threshold. Unfortunately mine is always stuck on 1mb even if I've just switched the computer on of an evening. At around 3am speeds start to pick up again and I can sometimes hit 10mb. www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=678879It's the fucking students fault.

Complain, if you're paying for 20 gig you should get it most of the time. If they're infrastructure can't cope that's hardly your fault.
I'm downloading from Usenet at 1.57 MB/S just now and it can go a lot higher than that, I think 2.4 was the highest I've seen. That's also with Virgin.

Mrs Cheese phoned them up yesterday and they are putting some sort of monitor thingy on our internets and when our speed drops below a certain level they will credit our account.

Result.
They do loads of good things if you just phone them up. They are shitting themselves just now because of loads of people going to Sky.
I found that canceling the Direct Debit worked wonders. I don't get the £5 discount for paying that way, however their has been absolutely no problem with my account since I did it.
I am also now paying about 1/3 less per month for they're service. Even less than the deal I agreed with them but they kept tickling up whilst the DD was in place.

Awww, I wish I was on Virgin Media, and had really bad problems, so I could threaten to cancel and get really cool discounts from them.
My internets are perfect and I get a fairly consistent 6mb for a very competitive price =(
